Photo Restoration

Do you have photos that you need to have restored?

Here is how to do it yourself.

Original

Steps:

1. Scan the image at a high resolution (300 dpi or greater). When you edit photos, the resolution decreases every time the image is saved. So it is best to start out with the highest resolution possible.

2. Open the image with a photo editing program. Some good ones are ACDsee, and Adobe Photoshop CS. We will use Adobe Photoshop CS for this tutorial because it is the best one we have found.

3. Create a duplicate layer so that the original image is not compromised.
      - Right click -> Duplicate Layer

4. Use a combination of the clone stamp tool and the healing brush tool to "erase" the creases and folds from the old image.
In Photoshop you hold in the ALT button to select an area to clone and start cloning.
The healing brush will attempt to blend the areas as much as possible, where the clone stamp will copy directly.
TIP: You can use the "[" and "]" keys to make the brush size smaller or larger on the fly.

5. The dress folds are gone!

7. Enjoy your work!
