Transfering 8mm film to DVD or CD?

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

A customer asked: How can I transfer my 8mm film to DVD or CD? I have tons of 8mm film to transfer and I don’t want to pay to have it all transferred. I have done it before on a VHS tape and I may get that transferred to CD or DVD.

At Blue Cloud Video, we recommend getting your VHS transferred to DVD first. This will at least allow you to view what is on your film. Do not run your film through and old projector and risk damaging the film. Once you do that, you can pick and choose the actual film you would like to transfer at high quality and then create custom DVD’s. Sometimes the film has not been lableled so you don’t know what is on it. If that is the case, then you will want a preview package.

At blue cloud video, we offer a PREVIEW PACKAGE. This allows you to get all of your film transferred first, then, you can view all of it on a hard drive, or DVD’s and tell us the new sequence, add up to 30 titles and really customize your project instead of sending to a company that just spits it out onto a DVD burner. We really take care of your films and memories and getting them done fast is always less of a priority that providing high quality.
